Sometimes only handmade will do

Japanese Binding

When a delegation of Japanese businessmen came to the UK their hosts wanted to present them with a handmade book to mark the occasion.

Ian was asked if he had ever produced hand-sewn Japanese style books. "Not since I was at Leicester College" was his response.  At the time Trevor Hickman was his tutor.

As luck would have it, Trevor was helping out at Tudor with some in-house training on traditional restoration.

Under his guidance, Julie produced some samples, as seen here.

The customer was delighted and ordered 10 to be made.  They sent in the printed cover material & text, Tudor did the rest.

The Japanese delegates were delighted that the company had been so thoughtful in their choice of gift.
